Hello all!

It has been about two months since I’ve posted on the blog and it has been a crazy and wonderful time! Since the last post, I had a birthday, celebrated Thanksgiving and spent a month back home with my family, and got engaged. The hiatus to focus on family has been wonderful, but I am ready to get back to blogging!

I thought I would share some of my favorites, material and beauty-related and otherwise, to fill you all in on the time since the blog hiatus.

Travel Makeup Bag Essentials

Before, when traveling I was afraid that I would forget something that I needed or not have enough options so I would pack a ton of stuff. It made it difficult to find the things that I actually needed! Now, I’ve paired it down to just the essentials.

Going on a trip soon? Just nosy about what I pack in my travel makeup bag? If so, read on!

From the title of this blog post/review…you can probably guess how I felt about these products….but I feel like even products that don’t work for me deserve a thorough review. Maybe it will work for you, or maybe I’ll save one of you the frustration of finding a product that doesn’t work!

There was a lot of hype surrounding the new Anastasia Beverly Hills foundation sticks, especially on Instagram and other social media sites. One of the biggest selling points of this foundation was the announcement that there would be 30 shades, including those in very fair to very dark skin colors and in several undertones. As someone on the fairer end of the spectrum with a neutral-olive undertone, this got me pretty excited. If you read my “Most Wanted” post from several weeks back– I had been planning to purchase a foundation and contour stick from the brand for a while. Now that I’ve gotten a chance to use it multiple times, lets talk about what worked and what didn’t.

Becoming One With the Mullet, Or, What I Learned from Growing Out My Pixie Cut

So in the summer of 2015, I was between my first and second years of medical school an had gone back to my parent’s house in Richmond, Virginia for the summer. My (wonderful and very supportive) boyfriend had left for three weeks of backpacking through Europe and I was in full on “recover from Neuroanatomy/Neurology burnout” mode–it was our most difficult and last course of the semester. After a week or two of catching up with my friends from high school, sorority sisters, and friends from college and watching way too much of who knows what on Netflix, I remember feeling ready to do something. So I decided to cut all my hair off. Continue reading “Becoming One With the Mullet, Or, What I Learned from Growing Out My Pixie Cut”
